About Vivitar…
Vivitar was founded in 1938 as ‘Ponder and Best’ by Max Ponder and John Best in Santa Monica, California. Max Ponder headed the sales department, while John Best ran the operations side of the company. Ponder and Best began by importing German-made photo equipment.
Ponder and Best created the “Vivitar” brand to compete with major lens manufacturers. The company commissioned experienced lens designers and top-line Japanese optical lens manufacturers such as Kino Precision to produce their lens designs. By carefully positioning their limited product line with key photo retailers, they quickly built a reputation for good quality lenses at modest prices. My Thoughts…
Being a blogger, I make YouTube videos quite often. This usually entails me trying to figure out how to get my phone to sit still so I can record. With this Vivitar DVR 988HD camera, I can record using the included tripod, making the process much smoother. There is a remote control on it, so I’m not constantly leaning over to start recording like I do with a phone. This allows for a better intro and exit on my videos. The resolution is amazing, and it even has 4K! With the 360 degree angle, I will be able to take this with me when I’m recording on the go. This will be fun for amusement parks and such. This is very easy to set up and start using, and it didn’t take more than a few minutes.
The camera came with a mount, so that either myself or my boys could anchor it to our bikes to record while riding. Oh, the possibilities with this! One of the features of this camera is the ability to upload to social media or share with family and friends right away. This is an amazing product and would make a great gift for that hard-to-buy-for teenager or even yourself!
