Nowadays dark chocolate is mass produced and the focus is on quantity, not quality. With Honduras Chocolate Company, this is not the case! Their dark chocolate is made with heirloom quality, organically-grown cacao and pure cane sugar—no chemicals, pesticides, preservatives or additives. Ever.

Their Mission

Many claim to have single-origin beans, fair trade agreements and organically-grown beans but Honduras Chocolate Company takes it a step further:  we’ve invested in the farmers, the cacao and the Honduran community in which we live and work.
After 15 years of helping the rural poor, we had a vision to expand our reach and impact. By developing deep, personal relationships with local farmers, paying better-than-fair-trade prices and providing farmers with essential business training, micro-loans and access to farming resources, Honduras Chocolate Company has brought large-scale social impact and positive change to the troubled Honduran cacao industry.  As a result, Honduras Chocolate Company farmers take a tremendous amount of pride in their cacao. Their crop yield is greater and it’s of higher quality compared to cacao produced in  mass production regions. The net result: better chocolate for you, and a positive, sustainable solution for a country rich in culture but poor in financial resources.

Why We Like It…

My youngest son and I adore this chocolate. I love the fact that I am putting good ingredients into his system, rather than a ton of chemicals and unknowns. Now, I love to bake, and these bars are the perfect flavor for baking with. You could do something as simple as chocolate chunk cookies, or you could try one of the many recipes from their website. Yes, that’s right, they offer recipes to help you get the most out of your chocolate 🙂 They have recipes to suit everyone, even a Gluten-Free Banana Fudge Bread! I encourage you to look around their website and try out some of the recipes. These dark chocolate bars won’t disappoint. It’s very hard to keep from eating them all at once! Each of the bars is a generous size, and we make multiple servings out of each one.
There are different varieties, meaning they have varying cacao percentages. Let’s take a look at each:

  • 65% cacao- 65% cacao content for a balanced yet hearty chocolate flavor with natural vanilla notes.
  • 70% cacao- 70% cacao for an intense chocolate flavor with a sweet finish.
  • 75% cacao- 70% cacao with rich chocolate flavor, subtly sweet.
  • 80% cacao- 80% cacao, our highest cacao content bar for “extra dark” chocolate lovers. Rich and complex chocolate flavors, slightly sweet.
