About Rebel Yell
Rebel Yell recipe was invented in 1849, around the same time as other famous bourbons. This happened at what would later become the famouse Stitzel-Weller distillery. It was marketed as “Honest whiskey at an honest price.” In 1879, Frekerick Stitzel patented the barrel storage system that Rebel Yell still uses today. In 1936 Rebel Yell was officially introduced as a registered brand. Rebel Reserve made its debut in 2008. In 2018, Rebel Yell plans to stake its claim in Bourbon Country with the opening of Lux Row Distillery.

My Thoughts
To be honest, I’ve not had whiskey very often. I’m not a connoisseur by any means, but I feel like I know a good whiskey when I taste it. Rebel Yell is definitely a good whiskey! The flavor was smooth, with just enough ginger. At first I worried that the ginger would be overpowering, but that wasn’t the case at all! I had never had any kind of Julep before, so I tried both a mint and a ginger julep. I really liked them both, as I really love fresh mint. But, I have to say that the ginger julep added just a bit more. It had that ginger taste to it, and it was really good! So, if you are into juleps, I highly recommend trying Rebel Yell Ginger Whiskey and their ginger julep recipe!
