The Nectar Mattress

NECTAR is constructed from four special grade performance layers and a uniquely milled cooling cover. NECTAR’s cover is Tencel and long staple cotton, fully removable, quilted and embroidered, woven and prepared with a healthy aloe based cooling layer to assist air wicking. NECTAR’s foam layers include “Lush” 1-inch four lb semi-open fast-recovery gel memory foam, a 3-inch 3.5lb memory foam with a medical grade cooling and recovery levels and finally a 2.2lb high density base foam.

What We Think…

Well, as always, I am skeptical about these things. It’s just so incredibly hard to find a good mattress that meets all of our needs. I like a mattress that is soft, yet firm. It also has to be high quality, because I don’t want it to fall apart a year into use. The price has to be affordable. The list can go on for miles. Thankfully, Nectar is able to meet and/or exceed our expectations!
The mattress arrived in a large blue outer bag. Silly me, I thought I would just drag it inside. Nope. This sucker was HEAVY! It weighed, roughly, a million pounds..haha. Thankfully, my son was home, and he helped me get it inside. That took care of my workout for the day, and probably the next, say, 40 workouts. So, we got it inside, and managed to drag it into my bedroom, where I had the platform bed frame all ready.
Of course, silly me again, I thought we would just lay it on the bed, take it out of the package and be done. Of course, we couldn’t do it the easy way. Nope. We put it upside down somehow, and had to flip it..haha. After we flipped it, I then realized that we had it the wrong direction. I swear I have never worked so hard for a mattress before! I needed a break.
After a much needed break, I went back in and finished it. It had “fluffed” up to the size it was supposed to be. I was impressed to see that this happened in a short time, and that it didn’t take hours. Of course, I had to test it out. So, I thought to myself “Here goes nothing..” Boy was I surprised! It was sooo comfy! Seriously, it was heaven. I nearly fell asleep right there, but there was more to be done! I furnished the mattress with some new sheets, and put my blankets on. I have to say, I love the way it looks!
That night, hubby and I had the bed night’s sleep in years. The mattress was firm, yet not so firm that it felt like I was sleeping on a rock. It has just the right amount of firmness to it. I love that it doesn’t move all over when I toss and turn. This was a problem with our previous mattress. I have a terrible time sleeping, and I’m all over the place. With the last mattress, it bounced all over if I turned or moved. With Nectar, neither of us feels when the other moves. It’s bliss!
We opted to not put a foundation under it, so it just sits directly on a platform bed frame. This is the perfect thing for us, but for those that prefer a foundation, that is an option as well 🙂
Our sheets fit it perfectly, and there is no need for special sheets at all. The technology in this mattress is unbelievable. I generally get too hot, and sweat buckets, but I haven’t had that issue with Nectar. It has a wonderful technology that helps you stay cool. No more sweaty nights for me! Best of all? It’s cat approved!
