About Zebra
Zebra Pen Corporation was founded in New York in August 1982 as an independent corporation wholly owned by Zebra Co. Ltd., of Tokyo, Japan.
The Zebra trademark was adopted in 1914. Legend has it that Mr. Ishikawa, founder of Zebra Co. Ltd., wanted a company name that would be memorable and also appropriate for their export business to other countries. He took an English/Japanese dictionary and, opening it Japanese style from the back, started with the “Z” words. He stopped at “Zebra”.
Upon further research, Mr. Ishikawa found that zebras are gentle animals with a strong family herding instinct. This was an important attribute, since he wanted to build a business in which employees and customers were all part of a family-like culture. The fact that the zebra looks like it is decorated with large calligraphic pen strokes may have also appealed to the visual image he was seeking.
Today the Zebra Pen brand is as unique as the products we sell. Zebra Pen Corporation offers an extensive line of writing instruments including ballpoint pens, highlighters, mechanical pencils, gel rollers, and correction pens. We stand behind our name and guarantee quality, satisfaction, and ultimate writing performance.
My Thoughts
Zebra has been a household name forever! I remember growing up, my dad used Zebra pens all of the time! Whenever I walk into an office supply store, Zebra is always the first brand I look for. If they carry Zebra, then they are good. If not, I’m most likely wasting my time.
When I got the chance to work with them for my Holiday guide, I was over the moon! They have such awesome stuff! They sent me a little of everything, and I was not disappointed. If you have a budding artist on your shopping list, then Zebra has just what you need. They sent me some fine liner markers, and colored pencils. Now, the colored pencils are seriously the bees knees! You don’t have to sharpen them, as they are automatic. WHOOHOO! The leads are nice and thick, so they won’t break easily. The fine liner markers are awesome. They are great for drawing, or coloring fine detail. Me? I also use them for everyday writing, like my grocery list. Hey, who says grocery lists have to be boring? Add some color to it!
Their brush pens are super fun to use, and I have bee diligently practicing some hand lettering with them. You can get some that are dual ended, even, with a finer tip and a larger tip. Now, beware, they do bleed a bit, so just be careful with them. Fountain pens… oh my! These are my favorite, by far! I have always wanted a fountain pen, and now I have 7 of them. Each one is a different color, and they all write so beautifully. They sent me some regular pens and pencils, mechanical, of course. The quality of these pens and pencils is simply amazing. Each of them is made very well, and made to last. One favorite pen is the gel pen. It write so smoothly, and beautifully. I absolutely love them.
So, if you have anyone on your list who would love Zebra products, do yourself and them a favor and get them. These are products that are made to last. Zebra also has printable coloring pages you can get on their website. They have a range, which provides something for every coloring level. Check them out here.
